The evolution of the internet and the pervasive availability of communications means makes it possible to connect “everything” and “anywhere” using satellite communication. This is especially true in rural areas, where satellites can provide the missing cellular coverage to connect sensors and other entities to the internet, and is well applicable to areas such as agriculture, industry, water metering, weather sensors, petrol and gas metering and more. Thanks to the use of extremely-low SNR waveforms both in the forward and return links, maintains satellite communication, and allows the integration of small-size antenna and the baseband electronics in a small and rugged case.
S-IoT Features and Benefits
Sophisticated power management capabilities are implemented in the S-IoT terminal, resulting in efficient and long lasting battery or solar operation. The terminal is constantly in deep sleep mode and consume power in transmission and reception modes. At a typical M2M application, transmissions occur every 15 minutes.
The efficient waveform and system architecture, paired with self-install capability, reduces to a minimum the terminal and operational expenses. The satellite connectivity can be complemented by a cellular or terrestrial modem for dual mode use case. The electronic antenna coupled with an Android or iOS application makes the system easy to install with no tools or equipment required.
IoT and M2M Wide Area Network
The terminal operate as a part of a highly modular and flexible network, satellite-provider independent global service. The terminal data is tunneled over the satellite to a public cloud computing platform which enables the network to scale-up rapidly with minimal support. The cloud-based data enables users to view data on any device: laptops, smartphones and tablets, and send alerts through standard SMS service (text message).
Privately owned self operated IoT system
SatixFy’s IoT solution provides a quick hub and terminal deployment in the Ku/Ka GEO space segment. The terminal supports low data rate on both the forward and return links based on DVB-S2X and spread ALOHA standard waveform (ESSA: Enhanced Spread Spectrum ALOHA). The Extremely Low SNR (VLSNR) modem is based on SatixFy’s SX-3000 SDR ASIC, enabling small antenna size (less than 15cm).
